These pants are great! I’ve been wearing them lately when its been hot. Good for serious hikes, but also for more low key use like taking a dog for a walk.
Seth –
I have owned two pairs of these pants, and two pairs of the matching shorts. I have loved them all, but on every single pair that I have owned, the stitching on the back pockets pops and comes loose, to the point that I am no longer able to use the back pockets. Besides this, the pants look and feel awesome, and fit extremely well.
Ken C –
The pants are very thin and best used on hot days or for sun coverage. They don’t provide much warmth but they feel like you have nothing on which is great for hiking.
Nick –
I was given a pair of these pants and loved them. So I wanted to order another pair and this is where things started going downhill. The first pair I ordered, the pocket seam came apart after only a couple wears. Then the next two replacement pair were wildly different in sizing (much bigger) despite being labeled the same size. I don’t know if Mountain Hardwear uses different manufacturers or what, but the same pair of pants, in the same size, ordered at the same time … should be about the same size. Despite my love for the first pair of pants it is very frustrating when you don’t know what you’re going to get from one pair to the next.

I did not think I could find a better pant than the AP pant but my vote is Basin Trek Pant for 2023 Pant of the Year award.
Jarrod –
Great pants, extremely comfortable, light weight, with great stretch. They fit true to size.
Spencer –
Super comfortable, quick drying, light but durable.

These are a great pair of pants. I am pretty finicky about what pants I wear and these are close to being ideal. I’ve had the pants for two weeks only. My concern is that the material will rip and/or have tears when it gets entangled with brush, branches, shrubs, etc. I guess we’ll find out soon.

dinner. The challenge is that sizing is inconsistent. It becomes necessary to order multiple pairs of the same pants so that you get the on pair that fits you. Yes, you htne get to pay a fee to ship back the pants that did nto fit.
Oh, did I mention that the sizing moves from year to year.
Still a great pant and worth the aggravation.

Would be nice to have in slim and regular. Look like street pants, but suitable for mountains too. Very cool in the Texas heat.
Topdowngo –
The lightest, most comfortable pants. No need to bring short pants, these pants will fit all seasons. The only less than perfect is that the sizing does not run true. You will need to buy 2 and return 1 to get the pants that fit you perfectly. As a minor note they do not have a cell phonepocket and the side pockets are not zippable. Those changes would make the pants perfect.

Great everyday pants. This is my third pair (I have 3 different colors). Super comfortable.
Willie –
Pants would be excellent with at least one secure front pocket and a zip side pocket down the leg.

I received a pair of the Basin Trek Pants a few days ago and absolutely love them. I rarely, if ever, write reviews, but was compelled to write one for these pants. Fit is perfect for me in a 34/32. The material is stretchy, and the overall fit is standard – not too tight nor too loose. I wore these hiking and then for yoga and they worked surprisingly well for each. Looking forward to many days in these – I’ve already ordered another pair!

I bought two pairs, liked them so much, ordered two more pairs. Being on sale was even better. I’m 5′-9″, 148 lbs., the 31 waist fits perfect. Live Oregon and mountains in AZ, perfect in both climates.
TurboDad –
Great all around pants. Very lightweight and comfortable. Should be great for summer. Dries quickly (got caught in the rain).
Josh B –
They are so comfy and versatile. Can wear for any type of occasion.

These pants are great for around town as well as hiking. Light and comfortable, these actually fit perfectly with a one-inch-larger size than I typically wear. They were sold out of my “usual” size so I bought one inch bigger, thinking I’d be tucking in undershirts for wearing them to work or I’d just use a belt, but they actually fit well as they are. So if I’d order more I’d still get the one-inch waist size bigger for a nice fit, thinking the actual size might be a little snug. Hopefully they bring these back and not just offer them in zip-offs!

Very comfortable pants. Liked them so much I ordered a second pair!

Great pants for travel. Bought the exact same pair of pants in two colors one size fit perfectly (blue), the other fit was two sizes two small (black). They were label as the same size, but when I put one on top of the other, they were not the same. I bought them in size 31 and I am 6’2″ 155lbs.

I bought two pair at the discounted price, like them so much, I bought more. My new go-to trousers. Can hike, wear around town, church, etc. Currently trekking in the Himalayas in Nepal, the best trekking pants!!

Great fit, comfortable and lightweight. As with a lot of technical clothing, they do their job outside, but noisy inside (swish swish). Would like some natural fibres to quiet that.
