It’s lightweight and cool. It’s great for gardening. I need waist high pants to prevent a gap when I bend over.

I bought this for sun protection, and its been outstanding. Even tho I am covered up, it is NOT hot at all, in fact, its cooling. Its very light and feels wonderful on and does the trick. I am going to buy a couple more.

Really thin, soft material. I got this for sun running and paddling. It has one small pocket for a key or gel. There’s no way to tighten the hood so I find it keeps falling down while on the move but overall great summer coverage!

I wore this for a backpacking trip after buying it in a store and choosing it over the Patagonia shirt. I wanted something lightweight and yet warm. The Vinca color is SO beautiful too. I want this in more dark colors!
Elly –
This hoody gives you full protection from the sun and adds extra warmth when you need it. The weight of it is so light you don’t even know you are carrying it!

Love this hoodie for summer! I’m easily sunburned and I hate having to reapply sunscreen repeatedly. When I wear this and a hat, I am protected and surprisingly comfortable, even in the blazing sun of Florida in July. My first one fell apart at the seams with regular washing after about 10 uses, but MH made it right sending me another.

Dries quickly. Great for hiking. The front tie does get in the way when you need to pee outside. But very soft and comfortable! I read the reviews that the lighter colors showed dirt easily, so I am happy with the blue. Feels like it fits true to size.
Racheleigh –
Really cute cut and the fabric is sooo soft! My boyfriend bought this for me in the lilac color. I am 5’9″ 130lb and he purchased me a small.
I think I am going to exchange it for a medium. It runs a little tight on the arms (I have skinny skinny arms) but fits well everywhere else! The fabric is amazingly soft – like butter! Cute sloped hood too and the drawstring helps accentuate the waist!

I have more than a dozen of these shirts and wear them daily to garden. They are cool and protect me from the sun as well as from branches and bugs. I live in a tropical climate and also have worn these to the beach and walking. The hood can be bunched up to protect my neck or pulled up to cover my dyed hair if I forget my hat. A few started unraveling under the arms but a few stitches with needle and thread prevents further unraveling.

I loved the material, the roomy hoody that fit over my hat, the fit, the breath-ability. However, the seams came apart in the armpits after washing the first time. When I returned it, I was told this happened often and was a common cause for returns. MH — please fix this!!!! I’d buy a dozen of these if this long standing durability/manufacturing issue was addressed.

I wore it to the gym to workout in and it was great, kept me cool and comfortable!

I bought this a few years ago and it’s great even on a hot hot day, cool fabric and I LOVE the drawstring and zipper !

I bought this for extra sun protection while running in the summer (instead of wearing a tank top) and I wish I’d bought it a long time ago! I’ve run up to an hour in 90 F sunny weather so far, and it’s been amazing. I agree that the hood would be better wirh drawstrings and a ponytail holder as it doesn’t stay up. I actually like the drawstring around the hem and was surprised I did (it makes the shirt sit a bit looser and help with cooling). I’ve even kept the sleeves down around my wrists. I chose this at a store after feeling the fabrics of various UPF shirts and I liked this best. I haven’t had a Sun shirt before so can’t speak to wearing others, but I definitely don’t feel it’s too heavy, cumbersome, or hot – it’s working superbly for me. Everyone has different preferences but I am definitely buying more. I like the fit as well and feel it is true to size and as described

Love this hoody. I am a frugal shopper and rarely pay full price, but I did for this sunshirt and it’s worth it. I live in Hawaii and it’s hard to find sun protective clothing that isn’t hot and heavy. This hoodie is super light weight, very soft material on bare arms, the hood pulls completely over my head and covers the sides of my face. The fabric actually feels somewhat cooling, as well. The fabric is so thin I so wonder about longevity, but I know Mountain Hardwear has a good warranty and I assume they’d take care of any problems.
I am 5′ 8″ and 135 lbs and the medium fits comfortably.

Love this light weight hoodie! I love it for wearing even in the heat.

Soft light fabric, great color and fit. Like v at neck

Love the fit, weight, and color. Not tight. Will be buying a couple more for travel.

I own this shirt in five different colors due to it’s versatility, comfort, and fit. It’s not only a great layering piece, but the hoodie provides great sun protection on hot days. I have worn this shirt on 80 degree days and been comfortable. No excessive sunscreen! Also, it has a nice draping cut which shows feminine curves.

This is the fifth time I’m buying this shirt! I live how soft, thin, and breathes or the material is. I wear it as a laying shirt in summer.

Bought to wear in Mexico, it was brilliant, felt extremely comfortable, the hoodie was helpful! It went nicely with the Dynama/2 Ankle pant (brown).

This shirt has been my favorite sun hoody for all things mountain! It’s great for the summer super hot months, also great in the cooler months of winter and wet spring. When it’s hot this long sleeve hoody keeps me cooler than a short sleeve swiftly (Lululemon) on it’s own. The fabric is cooling and not to mention has SPF which is a must when we are climbing outdoors and in the sun all day. I have this top in 15 different colors because I love it so much! I wear it every single time I go out for a hike, multi-night climb, glacier travel and at the crag. The lightness of the fabric and stretch fit so well on everyone and different bodies. I also enjoy the ties at the bottom so that I can make it fit exactly as desired. Without the ties it wouldn’t have such a great shape. I’ve tried other brands in comparison, the Outdoor Research Echo long sleeve hoody is much thinner, often see through and doesn’t have the great stretch component. The Patagonia sun hoody is either too tight in the smaller size or wayy too big in the next size. It’s much thicker, bulkier and not as cooling as the Crater Lake.
During the winter, I use this as my base layer and add a fleece on top. If it’s really cold, I’ll put a thin wool layer under the Crater Lake.
I am happy that Mountain Hardwear has continued to make this wonderful shirt for so many years!

I’ve had this hoodie for two years now and I absolutely love it. I’ve taken it on numerous multi day hiking trips and I ran a spring morning 10 miler in it. Super lightweight and soft. The perfect weight for cool mornings. Transitions well into daytime higher temps because of its breathability. Highly recommend. I’m about to order another. I’m 5’1″ and 117#. The xs size is perfect.

I’ve been using this hoodie for 2 years now without issue. The only annoying part is the drawstrings placed in the front, I find them unnecessary and in the way when you go to the bathroom in nature, but otherwise this was is one of my best purchases. From glaciers to day hikes, it’s top tier.
Sailsam –
I LOVE these tops, be it for sailing, mountain biking, hiking, what have you, but I must echo the sentiments of other women: PLEASE get rid of the drawstring! The first thing I do when I get another one of these shirts is cut the drawstring out. Otherwise, they’re perfect!

Great sun shirt, very soft and comfortable. Good fit and stretch. True to size. My wife likes them so much i had to buy one in every color.
